What are the Differences Between the user roles and permissions in WordPress Admin, Author, Contributor, and Editor?
The Admin user is the site owner. This person has responsibility for all content and administration.
A contributor is someone who has been given access by the site owner to create and manage posts, pages, and media files. The administrator will assign this status to individuals to grant extra privileges specific to their site’s needs.
An author is a person who can publish and manage their own blog but does not have control over the site settings or other users. These are usually people that you know personally (they might be your family members or friends) but aren’t the website owners.
An editor is someone who has been granted permission by a post’s author to edit or delete the post.
The admin bar, located at the top of each administration screen, provides access to several administrative features: the Dashboard displays recent activity, post and page editing features, contributor access tasks, and more.
The Users panel allows you to update your user profile and add additional users that you wish to grant access to your website’s admin area. You can change their preferences.
On the left side, you’ll find access to most WordPress management tools. On the right side are the options for your current article.
Each section of the WordPress admin area typically has a sub-menu that pops out to expose extra options. For example, the Posts > All Posts option opens up to give you access to all of your posts. From here, you can edit them or delete them.
The area in the middle of the screen is where you can write, edit, delete posts and adjust settings for your site.

Posts: All Posts > Add New > Edit Post > Trash > Comments
Pages: Add New > Edit Page > Trash
Media: Add New > Edit Media File > Trash
