GoDaddy Pricing – Which Plan Works For You in 2022?

If you’ve ever searched for a hosting provider, odds are you’ve come across Go-Daddy —it is, after all, one of the most prolific web hosting companies around. This United States company started in 1997, so GoDaddy has practically been around since the beginning of the internet.

Nowadays, it’s the largest domain provider in the world. They offer all kinds of affordable tools, from domain name registration to online marketing and more. And besides providing users a seemingly infinite number of hosting plans, GoDaddy is also a highly popular website builder.

One of the reasons users choose GoDaddy over other website builders like Weebly or Wix is that it’s pretty dang easy to use. GoDaddy’s claim to fame is that you can build websites in under an hour, making it simple for practically everyone to get online. They’ve even recently revamped their website builder, which, coupled with 24 7 support, makes GoDaddy beginner-friendly now more than ever.

But is GoDaddy right for you? Because choosing a hosting plan is one of the most important decisions you can make for your site, we want to help answer the question of whether or not GoDaddy makes sense for you. To help you figure everything out, we’ve done extensive research. Read on for our unbiased opinion.

GoDaddy Pricing Model: How Much Does it Cost?

Website Hosting GoDaddy

Let’s dive right in with a general look at the cost of web hosting with GoDaddy.

You may be wondering if, for websites, Godaddy is free, and the answer is yes–for a while, at least. Anyone who wants to try out the service can benefit from the one-month free trial, which is quite simple to access. All you need to register on GoDaddy is an email address — you don’t even have to give them your credit card information, which most other hosting plans require.

Once you input your email address, you are granted full access to the GoDaddy site builder for a month. You can take advantage of this time to determine if you want to commit to a one-year or two-year contract with the largest domain registrar in the world. Remember that you don’t get your domain names during the trial, but you can take advantage of the free domain when the trial is over.

Hosting Plans with GoDaddy

Given the fact that there are so many hosting plans, it can be challenging to figure out which one is right for you. We’re going to go over each individually to help you determine which is best for your site. (And remember, you can always call GoDaddy’s business phone number for help choosing among their various product listings).

But the good news about GoDaddy’s hosting plans is that because there are so many, there’s something for practically every individual. Whether you’re an individual website owner or an enterprise-level customer, there’s a package that’s the perfect fit for your needs.

As you read about the alternatives, please remember that the prices below are listed on a monthly basis. However, there is no ability to pay by the month, which means that when you sign up for some of the GoDaddy hosting plans, you pay per year in one lump sum.

Shared Hosting

Pricing PlanFeatures IncludePrice/month
Economy24/7 support, 100GB storage, unmetered bandwidth, free business email, free domain$2.99
DeluxeEconomy features, plus unlimited websites, storage and subdomains$4.99
UltimateDeluxe features, plus double the processing power and memory, a free SSL certificate (for one term), and unlimited databases$5.99
MaximumUltimate features, plus double the processing power and memory, double the maximum site traffic, and a free SSL certificate for the full term$12.99

The first and most basic hosting plans GoDaddy provides are shared hosting plans. It’s one of the most accessible plans from a  hosting company you can find. We recommend it based on user reviews for things like personal sites and limited business sites, where we think it is the most suitable.

The price of these hosting plans gives you a good indication of what you need to know about them: they’re cheap. And in the world of hosting, cheap means few resources. You’re not going to get fancy features like advanced SEO tools, dedicated customer support, super processing power, or an SSL certificate, but you have a place to host your site. For many people, that’s more than enough.

Within the shared hosting category, you can find four pricing packages: Economy, Deluxe, Ultimate, and Maximum. Signing up for the Economy Plan costs $2.99 per month, whereas prices for the Maximum Plan will set you back $12.99.

Hosting for WordPress

Pricing planFor traffic up to (visitors/month)Number of websitesStoragePrice/month
Ultimate4001-230 GB$9.99
Pro 5+8005-5050-200 GB$24.99

If you want to build a WordPress website, Godaddy has packages explicitly tailored to hosting with WordPress. Like the shared hosting plans, you can pick between four levels, each of which has a different pricing plan. These include the Basic, Deluxe, Ultimate, and Pro 5+. The Basic plan prices start at $4.99/month, while the Pro 5+ plan is $24.99.

You choose your WordPress plan based on the average monthly traffic that your site receives, making it easy for a small business (or any business, for that matter) to select the package best suited to their needs. Regardless of which plan you choose, all WordPress hosting packages include:

  • A free domain
  • Daily backups (and the ability to restore data with just one click)
  • Signup forms to get client data

And as an incentive to sign up for the more expensive WordPress plans, GoDaddy provides features like free SSL certificates that are useful for any business that uses eCommerce. An SSL certificate authenticates the security of your site, so your customers can shop with confidence, knowing that their private information is safe.

Business Hosting

Enhance90 GB4 GB2$34.99
Grow120 GB6 GB3$44.99
Expand150 GB8 GB4$59.99

Next, let’s take a look at Godaddy’s business hosting. If you want to upgrade from shared hosting plans, this category might be right for you. It gives users all the benefits of a  Virtual Private Server (or VPS) but without a high cost or the need for a specialist to set it up for you.

As we’ve seen with the other hosting plans, this one also has four tiers (Launch, Enhance, Grow, Expand), each with its own pricing plan. The prices range from $19.99 to $59.99/month, and regardless of the one you choose, you receive:

  • Unmetered traffic
  • Unlimited websites and databases
  • A standard SSL certificate

The main distinctions between the plans are storage, ram, and CPUs. Some plans are better for eCommerce, while others feature higher processing power for traffic-heavy sites.

VPS Hosting

Pricing planStorageRAM (memory)CPUs (Core Processing Units)Price/month
Launch40 GB2 GB1$29.99
Enhance60 GB4 GB2$44.99
Grow150 GB6 GB3$59.99
Expand200 GB8 GB4$74.99

VPS hosting is for those who want to get a little closer to dedicated server hosting without committing to the costs of dedicated servers. With VPS hosting plans, you’re still sharing server space, but you do technically have your own dedicated server.

The pricing plan includes four tiers (Launch, Enhance, Grow, and Expand). The prices range from $29.99 to $74.99/month, and you can choose based on three features: the storage you need, RAM, or CPUs.

These plans are very similar to the business ones, but the main difference is that they have quite a bit more storage. So if you need more processing power for resource-heavy web services, you’ll get better website performance than with one of the cheaper plans. The plans also include a free SSL certificate.

Dedicated Server Hosting

Pricing planStorageRAM (memory)Price/month
Economy1 TB4 GB$89.99
Value1.5 TB8 GB$104.99
Deluxe2 TB16 GB$129.99
Ultimate2 TB32 GB$179.99

The last of the five hosting plans Godaddy has is dedicated server hosting. This option is best for businesses with a site that receives a lot of traffic, as it allows you to make sure that you’re creating the best customer service experience possible.

As you might expect, the price jump is considerable, but you’re getting a lot more value for your money–your very own piece of internet “land” with GoDaddy, as it were.

Again, the pricing plan includes four options (Economic, Value, Deluxe, and Ultimate), with prices ranging from $89.99 to $179.99/month. They all include 4 CPU cores and unmetered bandwidth, but the main difference is in storage and ram.

Go Daddy Pricing Compared to the Competition

Now that you’re well versed in all that this web hosting company has to offer in terms of prices and plan choices, let’s compare what GoDaddy offers to its competitors. How do their prices stack up against those of other hosting services?

To answer that question, we will look at both their pricing plan promotions and their renewal prices against those of their competitors. We’ll go ahead and reveal right now that this web builder is not the cheapest one you’ll find for hosting.

GoDaddy Offers Comparison

GoDaddy$2.99 – $12.99$4.99 – $24.99$29.99 – $74.99$89.99 – $179.99
HostGator$3.92 – $5.95$5.95 – $9.95$29.95 – $49.95$118.99 – $149.00
InMotion$2.49 – $12.99$7.26 – $119.28$29.19 – $69.34$105.69 – $519.49
Bluehost$2.75 – $13.95$2.95 – $5.45$19.99 – $59.99$79.99 – $119.99

If we look at competitors such as Hostgator, Inmotion, and Bluehost, GoDaddy is somewhere in between its competitors. Bluehost typically has the best offers, but GoDaddy is more affordable than other site builders like Wix and Weebly.

GoDaddy Renewal Price Comparison

GoDaddy$7.99 – $24.95$9.99 – $24.99$29.99 – $74.99$169.99 – $349.99
HostGator$6.96 – $14.95$9.92 – $23.12$89.95 – $159.95$189.00 – $289.00
InMotion$7.49 – $22.99$8.99 – $142.99$39.99 – $144.99$189.99 – $589.99
Bluehost$7.99 – $23.99$7.99 – $14.99$29.99 – $119.99$119.99 – $209.99

When it comes to domain registration renewal, GoDaddy shines a bit more with its renewal prices. Their VPS plan is the cheapest of Hostgator, Inmotion, and Bluehost, and the rest of the plans are comparable. Bluehost does edge out GoDaddy for WordPress and dedicated hosting plans, however.

Other Factors to Consider

The website builder for GoDaddy and the hosting the company provides are just part of the story. Business owners have to consider other factors when selecting web hosts — namely, the critical upsells that you need to keep visitors on your page and customers visiting your site.

What are these add-ons? Generally speaking, they include website service features like security, backups, and tech support. While some people purchase these products with various companies, the fact of the matter is that it’s easier to keep everything under the same plan. This is good news for anybody who wants to use GoDaddy, seeing as they do an excellent job of providing the right value for all of these features. Here are the ones to pay attention to.

SSL Certificates

An SSL certificate for your websites is a must for anyone who wants to be legit on the internet. There’s nothing worse than a customer getting the dreaded “not secure” warning when trying to access your site. And of course, if you have an online store where you’ll be taking payments, they’re necessary to keep customer info safe.

When comparing pricing, something to keep an eye out for is whether or not the plan includes an SSL certificate, as it’s common practice for a web host to include them in plans with higher prices.

Some of the plans GoDaddy has included this feature for free. If they don’t, the cost for SSL ranges between $63.99 and $295.99 annually.

Packages for Website Security

Along with an SSL certificate, website security is another must, and depending on the market you’re in, you may want to get the best plan money can buy. It’s also convenient if your hosting provider makes it easy to add any website security feature you need. So how does GoDaddy rank in this area?

Quite well, actually. We wouldn’t think twice about tacking on a GoDaddy security package to your plan. Prices range from $5.59 to $23.99/month, and the features you get depend on the plan you select. As you might guess, the more you spend on your plan, the more you get. But even the most basic GoDaddy plan comes with the following features:

  • Twelve-hour response time
  • Unlimited malware removal
  • Google blacklist monitoring and removal

If you opt for a higher price tag package, you get more value features, like faster customer support response times and Express Malware Removal. The Express Malware Removal is worth the extra money, in our opinion, as you receive support from a GoDaddy security expert in just thirty minutes from the time any threat is known.

There are even better packages, though they can get quite pricey–we’re talking an extra $299.99 annually. However, many a larger business owner finds that it’s money well spent for the added peace of mind.

Packages for Website Backup

There’s nothing worse than losing all the hard work you’ve invested in your website or blog because you never backed it up. A regular backup schedule is critical, especially if you’re a business owner or a person who makes money with your website.

While you can absolutely do it yourself, it’s even better to have someone else take care of them. We recommend outsourcing this task, which eliminates the potential for some serious human error. For a fee of between $2.99 and $12.99 every month, GoDaddy will make sure there’s always a copy of your website when you need it most.

You can choose between two backup packages, the “Essential” and the “Ultimate.” Both include the following features:

  • Automatic daily backups
  • One-click restore
  • 24 7 support
  • Other benefits

So what’s the difference? You guessed it–the amount of storage you receive. With the GoDaddy Essential plan, you receive 5GB of storage, and with the Ultimate plan, you get 100GB. Whichever one you choose, not having to deal with this task is a relief.

The Bottom Line

Now that we’ve taken an in-depth dive into GoDaddy in this pricing review, what conclusion have we come to? Is GoDaddy hosting plans worth it? The answer to this question depends on your needs, but we do think that GoDaddy offers a price tag for every budget and situation.

When researching and comparing them to other hosting services and website builders, we can see that their prices are rarely the cheapest. However, their hosting plans include plenty of features that provide a lot of value. We think Godaddy’s success has everything to do with their variety and not just on any one thing.

Our verdict? The ease and convenience of using the GoDaddy website builder and hosting are well worth spending a bit more on pricing plans here and there.
