Makenge Tray, Zambia - (14.18) Freedom Its weight and smoothThis Makenge tray is a testament to the weaving skills of the Mbundu and Lozi people of Zambia. An original piece, traditionally used to winnow grains, now a beautiful decorative object. How they are made: the trays are woven from the roots of the Makenge tree, a small tree that sends out very long, shallow roots.
