Harper Bourbon has won many awards at spirit competitions around the world. With five gold medals awarded to I. W. Harper, it became known as the Gold Medal bourbon. I. W. Harper was launched in 1879 by the Bernheim Brothers, Issac and Bernard. Issacs first two initials were I. W., but he hesitated about using his own real last name and alternatively went with
